ABOUT THE BOSS BEAR LEARNING AND LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMME

The Boss Bear Family Programme is a structured, evidence-informed programme, supporting emotional development, behaviour and decision making in children aged 5-9.

The programme also supports language and literacy through listening, discussion, reading, writing and reflection, while contributing to PSHE and personal development. It focuses on building confidence, emotional awareness, decision making and early financial understanding through engaging practical learning.

Early support matters. Teaching these life skills at an early stage helps children:

  • Manage challenges more effectively

  • Develop positive habits

  • Build confidence in everyday situations

 

The programme supports children before small difficulties develop into longer-term patterns, helping to build strong foundations for behaviour, wellbeing and learning.

SUPPORTS PSHE AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Language and literacy are developed throughout each session using a clear, structured approach:

Each session is designed to develop:

• Listening and comprehension through purposeful animation  
• Speaking and thinking through guided discussion and questioning  
• Reading through short, focused text moments  
• Writing and communication through practical activities  
• Developing vocabulary, including language to describe emotions and experiences  
• Building confidence in speaking, listening and expressing ideas  
• Reflection to consolidate understanding and learning  

 

This integrated approach supports communication, comprehension and learning across the wider curriculum.

WHAT IS A BOSS BEAR?​

A Boss Bear is someone who is able to manage their emotions, regulate their behaviour and make positive choices.

Through the programme, children learn how to:

• Recognise and understand how they feel  
• Calm and regulate themselves  
• Make positive, thoughtful choices

HOW CHILDREN LEARN

Children follow the Boss Bear Family in stories set in Bearberry Grove, where they face everyday challenges and learn simple strategies they can use in real life.

Each session includes:​​
